A 16-ounce glass jar 3.2 inches across with a sealing lid, sold eight different ways: 6 or 12 jars, 10, 16 or 24 ounces, multicolour lids or a single colour. It is the highest-selling family in its category on the shelf it sits on, and the reason to read this page rather than the listing is that two of those eight boxes cost the same money for different amounts of glass.
Start with the arithmetic. 12 jars at $29.99 is $2.50 each; 6 at $19.99 is $3.33; the same 6 in pink, green or beige is $22.99, and in white $23.99. So a set of solid-coloured lids costs $3 to $4 more than the mixed set — about 60 cents a jar for a colour decision.
