What it is

First-stage silicone spoons, six to a set, in seven colourways. Two formerly separate listings were merged into this one, and the merge is the thing to know before choosing: the family now contains both the standard handle and a shorter version aimed at self-feeding, and the switcher distinguishes them only by colour name. The two options at the bottom of the price range are the short-handle sets.

The design question for a first spoon is how much handle a small hand can hold, and the two lengths here answer it differently. A long handle is for an adult feeding a baby — it reaches across a tray and bends to the side without the adult's hand blocking the mouth. A short handle is for the baby holding it, where a long one acts as a lever and lands in an ear. The rest is shared: food-grade silicone throughout, a soft tip with no hard core, no carved patterns on the handle to rub a hand, and a handle the maker says can be bent into position and bent back. Silicone also means boil-proof and dishwasher safe, which is the practical difference from plastic spoons that go cloudy and metal ones that go cold.

In use

Fits: starting solids with an adult doing the feeding, and the stage a few months later when the spoon is grabbed. Does not fit: a toddler eating independently — a soft tip with no support bends under anything thicker than puree, and by then a hard spoon is wanted.

What the maker states

Below is the manufacturer’s own description of the product, quoted from the listing. It is their claim, not our test.

  • Easy to Clean & Dishwasher Safe: Hand wash and dishwasher safe, you can toss them in the dishwasher for a quick clean or boil them for an even deeper clean.

What 5,449 ratings can and cannot tell you

One of the highest averages in the catalogue, now on a sample that combines two merged listings. For baby feeding that score is partly about material anxiety: a parent rating a silicone spoon is rating how safe it feels in a mouth, and the maker's own specification is the document to read for that — it is printed below. What the figure does not resolve is tip durability through teething, which is where soft spoons actually end.

The average is the retailer’s own figure across every option in this family, not a score of ours, and no review is quoted or paraphrased anywhere on this site.

Questions about this one

How many spoons in a set?

Six, in every colourway. There is no single spoon and no larger box.

Which colour is the short-handle version?

The maker labels these by colour rather than by length, and the short sets sit at the bottom of the price range above. Check the option title on the listing before buying if the length matters.

Can they be boiled?

The maker states hand wash, dishwasher and boiling are all fine, and recommends boiling for a deeper clean. Their wording is below.
